Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee,

That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;

and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

From <>

Need to break down this verse in order to understand the interpretation.

Thou art Peter:  who was Peter?

Peter was a "Rock," a rock doesn't want.

How did Peter become a "Rock"?

Because Peter was a Jew.

The Jews had Moses Law to guide their lives, if not on a conscious level, at a subconscious level to some degree, because of the regeneration process that catches you up to a higher moral standard. And then comes that generation that are considered "Rock like," like Peter.

To be considered a "Rock"

It has to be in you to "Fear GOD," because temptation will move into you at Watch/Prayer Hour,

which effects Jews, Gentiles and the Heathen, all alike.

Keep in mind GOD's "Secrect Rapture"

[to be caught up] has always existed

and is the reason "We are created" to be what we are on an individual basics.

For better or for worst, according to our doings done by our "Free Will," given to us by our Creator GOD to do so.

Who was Peter ?

Mat 16:15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Mat 16:16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Mat 16:17  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Note: Peter was regenerated from a "Jonah", The Name Jonah means  "Dove", which mean Jonah was Spiritual to some degree, and had a gentle  personality.

Jonah named his son "Simon" which means "Heard"

Which means Simon had "Ears to Hear" from Heaven, at times appropriate. Example: Mat 16:17.

Did I state: according to our doings done by our "Free Will," given to us by our Creator GOD to do so.

We are Slaves to Sin, when we obey the Spiritual Entitles that posses this World.  That move you with "Waves" of Urges.
